Paramount Movies Hit Hard Drives
In what must be a consumer movie distribution first, Paramount has struck a deal with Seagate to load 21 movies onto the FreeAgent Go portable hard drive.
The movies will include the ultra-hot recent remake of Star Trek. The other 20 movies can be unlocked for $9.99-14.99 but Star Trek is free.
Unfortunately, the movies will be stored in standard-def format, taking up 10 percent of the 500GB drive's capacity (there is also a 640GB version). However, Paramount and Seagate are mulling over the prospect of going HD. The FreeAgent Go costs $160 and is available in red or black.
See press release and product page.
