HP to Sell High-Def Combi PCs
Want your next PC to handle both Blu-ray and HD DVD? Both high-def disc formats will be accommodated in select build-to-order models from Hewlett-Packard.
The drive in question is the Hitachi-LG GGW-H10N. It can read and write single- and dual-layer Blu-ray discs at twice normal speed. It can also read HD DVDs, though it cannot write them.
Affected HP models include the Pavilion Media Centers m8019y and d4890y. Expect pricing to be steep--the drive is estimated to add between $500-1200 to the cost of the machine.
