Of course, the world assumes that if you want a flat-panel TV that you'll want to hang it on the wall. Not according to Jeff White, President of Boltz USA. "Contrary to sexy television commercials featuring young 20-somethings fussing over which wall to hang their new, sleek, flat panel TV, we've heard from many customers who would much rather display their new toy on an attractive stand." (Personally, since as I young 20-something I suffered by watching TV on a miniscule 13-inch TV with rabbit ears and not even a Beta-tape VCR to keep it company, I feel that 20-somethings ought to be barred by law from owning a flat-panel TV until their 30th birthday. Think of it, as my mother used to say, as "character building"... But I digress.)

Back to Boltz President White: "There are a large number of home owners and apartment dwellers out there who don't feel comfortable drilling holes in their walls and installing industrial-strength mounting brackets to support their new 150 lb plasma TVs. Our new Plasma Entertainment Center offers a simple yet stylish alternative at a very affordable price."

The new Boltz entertainment center is designed with long, clean lines that create a style and a look intended to blend in with almost any decor. Customers have their choice of four finishes: Brushed Steel, Anthracite Metallic, Black Matte, and Granite Finish; although the folks at Boltz recommend the Brushed Steel finish since it's a nice match for the multitude of metallic colored Plasma and LCD flat-panel models in addition to many of the shallower LCD and DLP rear-projection TVs (typically up to 50 inches in diagonal) that also fit on the new furniture. Boltz says the recommended Brushed Steel finish is "hand applied by sanding the steel smooth and coating it with a clear finish revealing the sanding marks and dark striations, creating a timeless, one-of-a-kind look".

The $799 entertainment center includes a bottom shelf capable of holding large components such as receivers and multi-function units. The top shelves are meant for smaller items such as DVDs, CD, incense burners, and remote controls. (I made up the part about the incense burners, although you certainly could put one on the top shelf if you're into that sort of thing.) The center of the unit accommodates your flat-panel or slim-design rear-projection TV (as I mentioned before, up to 50 inches in diagonal), and Boltz makes an optional universal mounting plate that lets you "float" a flat-panel TV in the center of the unit for a very unique off-the-wall look.
