Two Subwoofers - One Choice
Like the LFM-1, the new subwoofer uses a down-firing enclosure design and a 12-inch long-throw woofer. The LFM-1 Plus, however, now includes a 350-watt BASH amplifier, whereas the non-Plussed model incorporates a 325-watt amplifier.
The most significant difference between the two subwoofers is the addition of a custom port plug and the use of a selectable EQ circuit to determine tuning modes.
For performance similar to the LFM-1, the user removes the LFM-1 Plus' port plug and sets the Port Mode switch for "maximum output". In this configuration, the LFM-1 Plus specs out at 25 - 180 Hz, +/- 2 dB with an SPL of 115 dB (depending on room placement). With the custom port plug installed and the EQ set for more linear output, the LFM-1 is said to have a slightly lower SPL of 112 dB but with a frequency response of 18 - 180 Hz, +/- 2 dB.
The LFM-1 Plus is available now for $679 directly from Outlaw Audio's website. The company says the original LFM-1 will remain in the product lineup and sell for $579. Both models are available in your choice of color as long as you choose black.
