Hisense Bets Big on RGB Local Dimming with 116-Inch TriChroma TV

Hisense is showcasing what it calls the first consumer TV with RGB Local Dimming Technology, unveiling a 116-inch TriChroma LED model (116UX) at CES 2025. According to the company, its proprietary design uses individual red, green, and blue LEDs—not filtered white or blue backlights—to deliver what it characterizes as more direct, vibrant color and up to 97% of the BT.2020 color space. Hisense says it’s done away with the efficiency losses of typical systems, crediting tens of thousands of optical lenses that provide brightness and color control at both the LED chip and cluster levels.

Hisense also reports that the 116UX reaches a peak brightness of 10,000 nits, potentially offering substantial HDR impact. The manufacturer touts multi-level dimming to reduce bloom, improve contrast, and even cut blue-light emissions by 38%. The TV’s on-board Hi-View AI Engine X is said to optimize every frame in real time, handling brightness, local dimming, and color adjustments through AI-driven algorithms.

Audio gets its own premium treatment, at least on paper, with a 6.2.2-channel CineStage X system that supports Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X. Hisense claims the sound is tailored scene by scene to maintain clarity and immersive effects. Google TV is built in, promising access to hundreds of free live channels, major streaming apps, and voice control via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple HomeKit. Connection options include HDMI eARC and Wi-Fi 6E, and the set measures less than 40mm thick for wall-friendly installation.

Hisense positions this 116-inch TriChroma LED TV as a step toward the next generation of display tech, calling it a bridge between MiniLED and the emerging MicroLED category. The model will be on view at CES 2025 (LVCC, Central Hall—Booth 16625), with more information available on Hisense’s website and social channels.
