Marantz VP-12S1 DLP Projector HT Labs Measures
The top chart shows the gray scale of the Marantz DLP projector relative to its color temperature at various levels of intensity, or brightness (20 IRE is dark gray; 95 IRE is bright white). As you can see, the gray scale as set by the factory, in the most accurate menu setting, measures very close to the D6500 Kelvin reference. The projector measures close to 6,650 K, within 50 K, at nearly every point from dark to light. We were unable to make further adjustments. The bottom chart shows the gray scale (or color temperature) relative to the color points of the display's red, green, and blue filter wheel. The red and blue color points measure extremely close to those specified by SMPTE. The green filter is considerably yellow, which means that the display won't quite reproduce all of the colors available in the NTSC or DTV system. The gray scale measures extremely close to the reference point in the middle of the triangle. The light output was approximately 5 foot-lamberts on our 100-inch-diagonal Stewart Grayhawk screen.—MW
