Inside Job

I really enjoyed John Sciacca's article on how to install a flat-panel TV on a wall ("Step by Step"). It was most useful for a novice do-it-yourselfer. But I would love to see you take this article to the next level for readers who are interested in what it takes to run wires through the wall. JEREMY LEVEE HOUSTON, TX

Save the Surround!

After reading "Tracking Surround" in April's "Music," I was disappointed not in S&V but in the music industry in general. I've been a hard-core supporter of both DVD-Audio and SACD since the November 2000 DVD-A release of Emerson, Lake & Palmer's Brain Salad Surgery. I'd waited years for a format worthy of replacing the venerable LP, and now the labels are going to kill off a good thing. There's a huge list of LP titles that need the hi-rez and surround treatment. Please, greedy music-industry people, don't let us down, because we're the ones who invested early on in these formats. Sympathy for the Devil

Like Bob Richards ("Feedback," April), I bought the White Stripes' Get Behind Me Satan. Wow, a great CD! I can't seem to get it out of my player. I even found my wife trying to steal it out of my car so she can listen to it on her way to work. So, I couldn't disagree more with Mr. Richards. Jack White's talent improves with each album, and my wife and I can't wait for the next White Stripes release. Good review, good mag. ALAN PLANT WARE, MA

I agree with Bob Richards. Get Behind Me Satan is awful. Just goes to show that if you want a good review of the latest DVD player or plasma set, read Sound & Vision. But if you want a review of a CD, read Rolling Stone. PETE DEMPCY SEATTLE, WA

We all have opinions - ain't it grand? But "if you want a review of a CD, reading Rolling Stone"? Them's fightin' words! Mr. Dempcy should know that RS critics named Satan the No. 3 album of the year, and RS readers voted it No. 2.
